The Dickens Pattern: Transforming Beliefs
Today I want to talk to you about one of my all time favorite coaching processes. This isn’t what I created. I ripped it off from Tony Robbins and it’s called The Dickens Pattern. You’re probably familiar with the Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Carol, and if you know anything about it, its features an old miser who only loved money, named Ebenezer Scrooge. Ebenezer gets visited on Christmas Eve by three ghosts. The ghost of the past, the present and the future. And if you know the story, the visits from the ghosts are so real that he actually thinks that it’s his real life when in fact, he wakes up on Christmas Day realizing that no time has passed.
Mr. Scrooge is given all the lessons of perspective with none of the consequence. It completely changed his life. He becomes a philanthropist and goes on to save Tiny Tim along with a myriad of other good deeds. Just like Scrooge I want to put you to gain the insight of this process. I want you to understand some of the beliefs that are standing between where you are and where you ultimately want to be.
Beliefs are just feelings of facts. They are the filter through which we view the world. Left unaudited your beliefs can run your life, relationships, health, and/or right into a wall. The scariest part is we don’t even know that it’s happening. My encouragement to you is to use the form down below, identify some handicapping beliefs and then work through the worksheet so that you can have an experience very similar to Scrooge’s.
Now, just like anything, the first time that you do this, you may not be very good at it. Do it again and again and again, until you know you find something that is truly keeping you from getting what you want. We all have beliefs that are getting in the way. What are yours?
I trust that you’ll do this. I would love to hear what it is that you ultimately find.
Thank you for watching Happy Holidays, and we’ll see on our next growth tool.
